Editorial judgment • Evidence translation • Operating systems

My process

I help organizations decide what is worth saying, establish what is true, and build the system that carries useful knowledge to the people who need it.

My process comes from two disciplines I practice at once: investigative journalism and content leadership. I gather evidence, test assumptions, find the real decision point, then build the narrative, workflow, standard, or product that helps the work hold together.

Writing is my foundation, but it is not my limitation. Sometimes the right output is an investigative article. Sometimes it is a customer story, an interactive experience, a sales tool, a cleaner workflow, or an editorial system. The format changes. The standard does not.

How I reason

Whether I am solving a business problem or telling a complex story, I move through the same pattern: question, investigate, confirm, connect, translate, build, and communicate.

01

Question

Notice what does not fit. Start with curiosity, not assumptions.

02

Investigate

Gather perspectives from the people closest to the problem. Collect evidence before drawing conclusions.

03

Confirm

Test assumptions. Verify what is true before moving forward.

04

Connect

Look for relationships between people, ideas, data, and business goals. This is where patterns emerge.

05

Translate

Turn complexity into understanding. Adapt the message for the audience.

06

Build

Create the system, story, experience, or workflow that best solves the problem.

07

Communicate

Deliver the solution in a way that creates understanding, adoption, and action.

How I create value

The projects change, but the plays repeat. My role is recognizing which play, or combination of plays, the situation requires.

Play 0

Master the process

Learn how the current system works, why it exists, and who depends on it before suggesting changes.

Play 1

Find the problem

Look past the requested project to identify the underlying obstacle or opportunity.

Play 2

Create the connections

Bring together the people, knowledge, and perspectives that need to be in the same conversation.

Play 3

Build the story

Turn scattered information into a narrative arc people can understand and use.

Play 4

Match the medium

Choose the communication vehicle that best serves the audience, the message, and the outcome.

Play 5

Make it repeatable

Turn one-off work into repeatable systems, frameworks, or processes that keep creating value.

What this looks like in practice

Selected examples that show the process across content strategy, customer proof, investigative reporting, sales enablement, search modernization, and human-governed AI workflows.

Process, proof, and systems

I create the most value where knowledge is scattered, the audience needs clarity, and the format has to fit the decision.
